a gorgeous vignette...

Isn't this shot gorgeous? I know it's perfectly styled with fresh flowers and an expertly folded blanket, but it just screams understated elegance, like it's just that easy to create a glamorous vignette with just a few well-chosen items... beautiful!

almost here...

Hello everyone... hope you're all having a wonderful Friday that's just flying by! It's super bright & sunny today, blue skies and a slightly warmer temperature melting away all the snow... which is the perfect start to our long weekend here in Ontario. Doesn't this picture just make you feel all warm and fuzzy for Spring? Such a great shot!

bright light...

The weekend has officially arrived, and a long one at that! A busy week as always, but with valentine's celebrations, some fun surprises, and a few more projects finished up, it was a pretty good one all in all! What are you all up to this weekend? I just finished a wedding invitation and will be working on the rest of the set over the next few days, but other than that it'll be all about relaxing and reading a good book...

Thanks for stopping by Dress, Design & Decor this week, I appreciate it and enjoy reading all your comments and emails! As always, can't leave without a few links... have a good one!

je ne sais quoi...

On a relaxing weekend like this (or even a weekday for that matter), I love this idea for a messy bun, instead of pulling your hair tightly back at first. The above photos and steps speak for themselves it's so easy! And then you have a pretty, parisian look, with a certain laid-back elegance, don't you think? I love it!

Some tips:

- Don't use freshly-washed hair, it's easier to style when you haven't just shampooed.
- 4 - 8 bobby pins will do the trick, you want the bun to feel secure, but look a little loose.
- Pull some strands out from the style to make it look "lived-in".
- Try Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion for "second-day" hair texture.

happy tuesday...

Hello everyone... back from a lovely long weekend, hope you had a great one too! I did a whole lot of relaxing, sleeping in, and a little bit of reading, which was nice. Even though we got a little snow this weekend, it was still bright and sunny for the most part. I love how the sunlight looks in certain rooms, like this beautiful apartment above, by designer Anna Boyd. Doesn't it just feel warm and "homey"? I love all the light honey-comb colours and natural wood. I've also been having this obsession with piled books and magazines paired with pretty bowls... it's a vignette that looks quite "lived-in" to me, like you could just toss your keys in the bowl, pick up a favourite mag and collapse into the couch...

Hope your week goes smoothly!
